Creating a Camera

At this point, your installation of MixCast should have an activated license and should be ready to create your first Virtual Camera, which is the term MixCast uses for a perspective of the immersive experience, either on its own or ‘mixed’ with a physical video input.

Clicking the “Open Preferences” button will open the Preferences window to the Virtual Cameras section.


Since this installation hasn’t been configured yet, you should see the following page:

Clicking the “Add Camera” button will create your first Virtual Camera configuration.


It’s now time to make a decision about your camera: Do you want it to capture a purely virtual perspective of the scene or one that incorporates the user or background from a physical video input device?

Note: Starting with MixCast 2.5.0, this additional window will appear when you create a Camera so you can specify which type of experiences this Camera should composite with or if it should only capture Virtual content.

If you’ve chosen to only capture virtual content with this camera, you can proceed directly to the Alignment and Tracking page; otherwise you need to configure which video input to ‘mix’ into the camera’s view under the Mixing subsection:
